Our Big Day Has Been Delayed

Update: Wedding has been delayed

Hi Friends and Family,
We would like to inform you that our wedding has been delayed. We have decided to move our wedding to a later date due to family circumstances and we will let you know when our new date will be soon.
Thank you for your love, support, and patience.
Lots of Love,
James and Bethany

His version:

A lucky Oregon boy and an extraordinary California girl met over the unlikeliest of events, and a dog named Larry. James and Bethany had no intention of ever meeting. For those that know Bethany she always saw herself living on a beach somewhere, and never saw herself in rainy Oregon. But as luck had it she came to visit her sister because she had a new puppy named Larry. Some may say Bethany had even given up on dating. Some may say James had also given up. However, God found a way for love.

As circumstances have it, James was moving and merging firms with Everett, one of his best friends and law partner. While moving boxes they met a surprise visit from Everett’s wife, her dad, and the most beautiful girl he had ever seen (Bethany). They had a magical unspeakable yet electric connection. Everyone could see it. Something was palpable in the air, and they couldn’t wait to see each other again even though they didn’t verbalize it.

Unbeknownst to both of them, they inquired about each other, and James invited her to his 40th birthday party. At the party they danced all night to 80s music, and he asked if he could take her on a date. On their 3rd date, as he was sitting across the table from her, he knew he was going to marry her, even though he planned to never get married again.

As unpractical as it sounds for a California girl and Oregon boy, it was love at first meeting. Fast forward they got to know each other and took trips to Napa, Mexico, and meet each others wonderful families. James proposed 5 months later in Paris under the Eiffel Tower.

They learned so much about each other, their experiences, dreams, love for God, and future together. James cannot see his life without Bethany. One of the best moment of his life was meeting Bethany. Bethany loves his girls and he is lucky to have her as a bonus mom. She is also a dog mom to Coco her cavapoo and Thor, a yellow lab, who she absolutely doesn’t want but loves anyway (except for his hair)

What was based on a stroke of luck and a dog named Larry, ended up being the making of something special, incredible, and his future wife.

Her version:

I was visiting her sister, who had just gotten a new puppy, a golden doodle and had no intention of ever meeting someone from Oregon.
I had been single for about two years and went on several dates trying to find the right person, but not succeeding. I met James out of the blue and realized that there was a connection there and little did I know that it was going to turn into something so amazing. I wanted to have some fun for the week she was visiting and so I went along with the invitation to James’s birthday party even though they had just met earlier that day randomly and I dragged Kim along to his birthday dinner. As the party was ending, I insisted it keep going just so I could keep talking to James and all the friends stayed and had drinks and the party kept going until they all ended up at an 80s dance night club. Kim and Everett were trying to stop the connection that was so seamlessly happening and to their horror James asked me if he could kiss her at the end of the night, even though I don’t normally do that, something in me said yes. Brushing it off as nothing the next day, but secretly freaking out that I just kissed some guy and actually kind of liked him. I thought that we would never talk again and that he was just having fun on his birthday, but he had kept telling me he wanted to take me on a real date all night the night before and we ended up going on a real date two days later. I had planned to go back to California, but ended up staying a few extra days just to keep going on dates with James. I went to Oregon single as could be and came back with the start of a serious relationship. We started dating after that long-distance an even longer distance while he was on a trip to Scotland and Ireland for his 40th birthday trip, but he called and texted me every day, even though it made his friend mad. We ended up visiting each other, back-and-forth in California and Oregon, and spent the holidays together and my birthday in Mexico and then we took a trip to Paris where he asked me to marry him but we had been pretty serious even from our first date. Fast forward to now I have spent the last 6+ months in Oregon and getting to know his two beautiful daughters, getting my real estate license and becoming accustomed to Oregon life and all that it entails. We’ve spent the last year getting to know each other really well having spent so much time together day in and day out and at our ages, we know ourselves better than than we ever have and everything feels so right together. James and I have such a good time together. He is one of the best men I have ever known and I feel lucky that I get to call him mine. He’s the kindest, funniest, sweetest person I’ve ever known and I love that we have a really full life together with two dogs who are like our children and then two daughters, who are actual children and someday, more to come. I feel so blessed that we share so much in common and have the same dreams for our future. We are so excited for our future together, and can’t wait for it to become official.
